Grade Scale Change

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to express my concerns regarding the grading scale changes in one of the biology classes.
I strongly believe that changing the grading scale in one single class is detrimental to the students in a few ways. First off, by having a tougher grading scale in just one class, the playing field is not even across the board. Students will have the same 10 point grading scale in all of their other classes and may get the same numerical grade in biology, but a worse letter grade. This is detrimental to the students' GPA and morale. Another reason why this is detrimental is that this class will now have a negative connotation to it whenever anyone thinks about it, and so will the professor. Students will also probably shy away from taking this class.
The students need to stay competitive amongst students at other schools. If a student at another school takes the exact same biology class and gets the exact same numerical grade as a student in this biology class, it would reflect that the student on the 7 point grading scale is not as intelligent as the student on the 10 point grading scale. If the entire school was based around a 7 point grading scale, then that would level the playing field and make the school look much more intelligent than schools on a 10 point grading scale because of the increase in difficulty to receive certain letter grades.
Thank you for hearing my opinion on this topic. Take all of the details into high consideration and act accordingly.
Sincerely,
Trey Hendricks
