If i had to choose a song that motivates me or puts me in the most positive mood, it would be The Sound by The 1975. Why does this song persuade my emotions to turn positive, yet the lyrics and music video are rather poler opposites of a positive mood? The 1975 put a synth pop and upbeat mood to their music to cover up the fact that it is a rather sad song. This is exact proof that a melody can persuade. If you did not pay attention to the meaning of the words and overall message of the song, you would think that this song is a happy love song. The guitar effects this band uses and the synthetic beats portray a lighter emotion than what is being described. I enjoy putting this song on because sometimes, I too, forget the true meaning of the song and get caught up in the uptempo poppy vibe it portrays. If I am having a down day, I will blast this song in my car in hopes of changing my mood and it typically does just that. This song does not slow down until about 3/4 of the way through but then is broken up by a guitar solo that gets it back on track to the happy beat. One example of this song making me motivated is on my drives to work. I am typically dreading a 7 hour shift right after school but this song sends me through work's doors with a positive attitude and a little amped up!
Listen to this song and let me know what you think! Do you agree/disagree?
